Media for IVF procedures
Besides the G-Series media, Vitrolife provides three additional media for IVF procedures. IVF™ and ASP™ have been on the market since 1994 and were two of the first media developed for human embryos.
Multi-purpose media IVF™
IVF™ is a bicarbonate-buffered medium designed for fertilisation, embryo culture and transfer on day 2 or 3. IVF™ is formulated according to the low-glucose principle and contains the carbohydrates lactate and pyruvate for optimal energy supply. IVF™ also contains human serum albumin (HSA) and EDTA.
ASP™ for follicle flushing
ASP™ is used for follicle flushing at oocyte retrieval procedures. The composition of ASP™ is based on the same principle as IVF™ but ASP™ also contains HEPES as buffer. To avoid blood clotting during oocyte retrieval heparin has been added.
CCM™ for blastocyst culture
CCM™ is a medium for blastocyst culture from day 3 to the blastocyst stage on day 5 after oocyte retrieval and was one of the first media to replace co-cultures. CCM™ contains all amino acids essential for blastocyst development plus the hormones insulin, progesterone and estradiol.
