The presence of peroxides in culture oil indicates that there are free radicals present, causing damage to embryos. The higher the level of peroxides, the more damage caused. Vitrolife has designed a special mouse embryo assay (MEA), in order to detect embryo toxic components and to guarantee a safe and protective culture oil – OVOIL™.  

A prospective, randomised study presented at ESHRE 2011 showed a significant increase in take home baby rate when using EmbryoGlue® for transfer, compared to the control group.  

A study regarding birth weight of children born after embryo culture in Vitrolife G-media and in Cook’s sequential culture media was published in 2010 by Dumoulin et al. The study showed that medium used for culturing embryos during the first few days after fertilisation significantly affects the birth weight of resulting singletons. Children born after culture in Vitrolife media had a closer to normal birth weight compared to the children conceived after embryo culture in Cook media.
