From fertility to stem cells

1993

Vitrolife was founded and was one of the first companies to provide IVF-laboratories with high quality ready-to-use culture media.

2001

Vitrolife invests and starts a co-operation agreement with Cell Therapeutics Scandinavia AB, the nowadays leading embryonic stem cell platform provider Cellartis AB. The intention was to develop and try out new media for cell therapy and stem cell based biotechnology.

2004

Vitrolife launches the first line of human embryonic stem cell media and instruments: VitroHES, VitroPBS and the Stem Cell Cutting Tool.

2010-2011

Vitrolife enters several international collaborations within the field of human embryonic stem cells both with universities and private companies such as University of Melbourne, Australia, and Regea Institute for Regenerative Medicine, Finland.

2011

Vitrolife launches a new cryopreservation media without DMSO, Vitrolife F1 OMNI^TM, in order to ensure higher viability and less toxicity when cryopreserving human embryonic stem cells.

Regulatory compliance

Our products are developed to facilitate the use of stem cells for therapeutic purposes.

Very few stem cell products on the market are today in compliance with the regulatory directives. Most of our fertility products have CE-mark, FDA-clearance, TGA-approval as well as approval from SFDA and Canada Health. We will strive to have the same approvals for our stem cells products to ensure an easier regulatory clearance for our cell therapy customers.
