Vitrolife was established in 1993 in Gothenburg, Sweden and initially worked to develop media for infertility treatment with in vitro fertilisation (IVF). Vitrolife operates on the global biomedicine market with the business concept to develop, produce and market high-quality products for the preparation, cultivation, preservation and support of human cells, tissues and organs. Vitrolife operates within a field of medicine that is undergoing rapid development with growing marketing potential. The Company has evolved a powerful competence platform for the development, production and quality assurance of high-technology media.

Vitrolife AB (publ), the group parent company, was established towards the end of 1997 in order to operate as the group holding company. The group operates through three Product Areas, focusing on products for assisted reproduction (Fertility), media for emerging cell therapies (Cell Therapy) and organ transplantation media and devices (Transplantation). Research activities take place in Sweden and in the USA.

Vitrolife’s core competence in infertility treatment and cutting-edge R&D position in it's three Product Areas are exploited to develop new media aiming to improve the clinical treatment outcome. Vitrolife enjoys close collaboration with world-leading research programs, which is a prerequisite for successful product development and launch.
