Dr. Conaghan presents time-lapse imaging of embryos throughout pre-implantation development as a new tool for continuously assessing embryos and identifying those with phenotypic or developmental timing abnormalities. He thinks that wider use of time-lapse can be a way to give embryologists the confidence to transfer fewer embryos per cycle and encourage more patients to opt for elective single embryo transfer.

Dr. Joe Conaghan works at the Pacific Fertility Center, San Francisco, California, USA. This lecture was a part of the Vitrolife Satellite Symposium "Optimising the Success of Each and Every IVF Cycle". The symposium took place in London in July 2013.
